The New York Department welcomes eligible applicants from a number of states, including New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. Applicants are invited to join one of five existing tents, or to join the department as Members-at-Large.
New York Department Tents are located in the following areas:
Broome county (Tent #2)
Long Island (Tent #36)
Oneida county (Tent #71)
Seneca county (Tent #109)
Wayne county (Tent #56)
If you would like to apply for membership in the DUVCW, please fill out our Request for Information form, and someone from the NY Department will contact you. If you are interested in becoming a charter member of our planned NYC Tent #110, please indicate that on the form as well.
If you live in an area where there is not yet a Tent, please do not hesitate to apply for membership. Please consider choosing to be affiliated with a Tent, even if you are not able to attend monthly meetings. Or, if you know other women who are direct descendants of Union veterans, please consider helping to establish a Tent in your area. The Department is more than happy to offer any guidance you may need.
If you are not sure whether or not you have a Union ancestor, or would like some pointers on locating Civil War records, please click here to see our research tips.
